ABOUT THE JEWELRY

Polymer clay is one of the most diverse mediums to work with. It can be crafted to look like a variety of materials, including gemstones, wood, marble, stained glass, and metal. Regardless of how it looks, it always has the same durable quality and lightweight feel. You'll fall in love!

PROCESS

It's a tedious, multi-step process to create the one-of-a-kind jewelry that you'll find at rosysunsetdesigns.

The clay first has to be colored and combined to create the perfect collage of color, then rolled thin and stamped out. Additional texture may be added at this stage.

The clay pieces are then baked and sanded. At this point, I decide if they are to be resin-coated, and use a UV resin if that's the case. The pieces are then drilled and assembled.

BENEFITS

There are many benefits of choosing polymer clay jewelry. As a material, it can't be beat for comfort and durability. With the biggest pairs on, I still often forget that I'm wearing them! Unless I put a lot of stress on the clay pieces and intentionally bend them to their breaking point, they won't shatter or crack.

Sustainability is important to me. That's why every scrap of clay that isn't used in a batch is reserved for future batches. I am conscious of minimal waste and making the most of my materials.

SAFETY

The baked clay itself is non-toxic and free of fragrance. The UV resin, once cured, is also extremely safe.

All of the metal hardware that is used in the making of the jewelry is hypoallergenic stainless steel.

The lightweight nature of the polymer clay is safe on sensitive ears and will not pull or tug on the earlobes.
